Common Sense Media:
Research Reports
Common Sense Media regularly publishes independent research reports to inform the public about the impact of media and technology on kids and families. These reports are crucial for providing reliable, data-driven insights to parents, educators, and policymakers, and needed a visually compelling and consistent design to ensure their data and findings were accessible and credible.
As the designer on these reports, my role was to create a comprehensive visual identity for each publication, from concept to final delivery. This included designing engaging covers and interior layouts, transforming complex data into clear visuals, and ensuring a seamless workflow from content creation to final publication.
I’ve taken the lead on the full design process for multiple reports. I began by sourcing and designing cover and interior imagery and collaborated with co-branding partners to ensure brand alignment. I was responsible for creating graphs, tables, and infographics, making complex data easy to understand. I formatted the entire report copy, established a strong typographic hierarchy, and worked with copyeditors on proofing. Finally, I designed all accompanying marketing materials—including images for emails and on-site promotions—to drive engagement and reach a wider audience.
The result was a series of well-branded, professional research reports that effectively communicated vital information to a diverse audience. My design work ensured that complex data was not only accurate but also visually engaging, helping to solidify Common Sense Media's position as a trusted and authoritative source in the digital literacy space.
